GTA 6 PC Release Reportedly Coming in Q1 2027

GTA 6 PC Release Reportedly Coming in Q1 2027

PC gamers waiting for Grand Theft Auto VI may have just received some unexpectedly good news.

A new report from GamesBeat, published October 13, 2026, claims that Rockstar Games plans to release the PC version of GTA 6 during Q1 2027, potentially bringing the blockbuster to computers much sooner than previous Rockstar releases would suggest.

According to the report, four industry sources familiar with Rockstar's plans independently identified the first quarter of 2027 as the targeted PC launch window.

That would mean GTA 6 could arrive on PC between January 1 and March 31, 2027.

There's one important catch: Rockstar Games has not officially announced the PC version or confirmed this release window.

GamesBeat Claims Four Sources Confirm GTA 6's PC Release Window

GamesBeat reporter Alexander Lee published the report on October 13, citing four anonymous industry sources familiar with the studio's plans.

The sources reportedly requested anonymity to protect their business relationships.

According to GamesBeat, Rockstar is planning to bring Grand Theft Auto VI to PC within the first three months of 2027.

Rockstar did not respond to GamesBeat's request for comment before the article was published.

This makes the report particularly interesting. Rather than relying on an online leak or speculative release prediction, GamesBeat is attributing the information to multiple people who reportedly have knowledge of the company's plans.

Still, the information remains unconfirmed until Rockstar or parent company Take-Two Interactive makes an official announcement.

GTA 6 Could Arrive on PC Just Months After Consoles

Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

If the reported PC release window proves accurate, PC players could be exploring Vice City just a few months later.

| Platform | Release Date | |---|---| | PlayStation 5 | November 19, 2026 | | Xbox Series X/S | November 19, 2026 | | PC | Q1 2027 (reported, unconfirmed) |

That would represent a significant departure from Rockstar's traditional release strategy.

Historically, the company has prioritized console launches and brought its biggest games to PC considerably later.

How Does This Compare to GTA 5?

When Grand Theft Auto V first launched, PC gamers faced a lengthy wait.

GTA 5 originally released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013.

The PC version didn't arrive until April 2015, approximately 19 months later.

Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar pattern, launching on consoles in October 2018 before reaching PC in November 2019.

A Q1 2027 launch for GTA 6 would therefore be unusually fast for Rockstar.

Instead of waiting more than a year, PC gamers could potentially receive the game within roughly six weeks to four and a half months of its console debut.

Why Would Rockstar Release GTA 6 on PC So Quickly?

There are several possible business reasons for accelerating the PC launch.

First, GTA 6 is expected to generate enormous demand across every available platform. Bringing the game to PC earlier would allow Rockstar to reach another substantial audience while excitement surrounding the console launch remains high.

Second, the PC gaming community plays an important role in the long-term popularity of Grand Theft Auto.

GTA 5 has benefited from years of PC activity, including modifications, custom multiplayer experiences and roleplaying communities.

Rockstar's acquisition of Cfx.re, the team behind the popular FiveM roleplaying framework, also demonstrates its interest in player-created experiences.

GamesBeat highlights the potential importance of PC gaming to the future of GTA's online ecosystem.

However, Rockstar has not publicly confirmed that these factors are driving the reported Q1 2027 release target.

What About GTA 6 Online?

The future of GTA 6's online component is another major question.

GamesBeat also points to comments attributed to Twitch CEO Dan Clancy suggesting that GTA 6's online experience will arrive in 2027.

Rockstar has not officially announced a launch date for GTA 6 Online.

It also remains unclear whether online functionality will launch simultaneously across every platform or follow a separate release schedule.

For now, the reported PC release window and the timing of GTA 6 Online should be treated as separate, unconfirmed developments.

Is GTA 6 Coming to Steam or Epic Games Store?

There has been no official announcement about which PC storefronts will carry Grand Theft Auto VI.

Rockstar has previously released games through its own launcher as well as major PC storefronts, but that doesn't guarantee the same distribution strategy for GTA 6.

Until Rockstar announces the PC version, storefront availability, system requirements, pricing and preorder details remain unknown.

Has Rockstar Confirmed the Q1 2027 PC Release?

No.

As of October 13, 2026, Rockstar's confirmed launch platforms remain PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with both scheduled for November 19.

The Q1 2027 PC release window comes from GamesBeat's reporting, not an official Rockstar announcement.

It's also important to remember that internal release targets can change, even when accurately reported.

Rockstar has already delayed GTA 6's console release multiple times to allow additional development and polishing.

Any PC release will need to meet the company's quality expectations before it launches.

When Will GTA 6 Release on PC?

Based on GamesBeat's reporting, the current rumored window is:

January through March 2027.

If accurate, that would be considerably sooner than many PC players expected.

But until Rockstar confirms the news, there is no guaranteed PC launch date.

For now, GTA 6's November 19, 2026 console launch remains the next officially scheduled milestone.

We'll continue tracking the PC version on Release Timer and update the countdown as soon as Rockstar provides an official announcement.
