A live-action sequel to the 2019 film Pokémon Detective Pikachu remains in active development. Screenwriters Chris Galletta and Oren Uziel are reported to be attached to write the script, continuing the live-action adaptation of the global video game franchise.
The original feature adapted the Nintendo 3DS game, following Tim Goodman as he teamed up with an amnesiac, coffee-loving Pokémon to investigate his father's disappearance in Ryme City. Development on the follow-up project experienced prolonged timelines following industry disruptions, including pandemic-related delays and Hollywood labor strikes.
