The Philosophy of Time Travel Countdown

Writer-director Richard Kelly developed this official sequel to his 2001 cult film Donnie Darko. Set in the late Reagan era, the story picks up after Donnie's death in October 1988, focusing on his parents, Rose and Eddie Darko, as they embark on separate investigations into their son's fatal accident. Their search uncovers a expanding conspiracy involving government agencies, unexplained artifacts, and the temporal theories of Roberta Sparrow. Kelly spent over a decade writing the narrative as the foundation for a larger franchise expansion. He conceptualized the project to serve as a pitch to reunite the original film's cast for potential screen follow-ups, which include plans for an animated feature and a live-action continuation set nearly three decades later.
