The 2028 Summer Games, officially known as the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad, mark the third time Los Angeles will host the event, following prior hostings in 1932 and 1984. The host city was selected at the 131st IOC Session in Lima, Peru, in September 2017, after the International Olympic Committee approved a simultaneous award process for both the 2024 and 2028 Games.
The tournament plan relies on existing infrastructure across Greater Los Angeles rather than new permanent construction. The overall program encompasses 36 sports and over 350 events.
