Cities: Skylines II is a single-player city-building experience built on the Unity engine, serving as the direct sequel to 2015's Cities: Skylines. Players design and manage a modern metropolis starting from a small plot of land and expanding outward. The simulation features improved traffic artificial intelligence, dynamic weather behavior, economic management systems, and detailed lifepaths for individual citizens.
Initial development was led by Colossal Order, with Iceflake Studios scheduled to take over in 2026. The console release was postponed to address frame-rate performance, system stability, and CPU simulation optimization. The development team has stated that no launch will take place before summer, with a firm date to be determined once the console build reaches complete readiness.

Release information
The console edition is scheduled to join Xbox Game Pass upon launch. Initial digital console pre-orders were automatically refunded when the delay was instituted, though players will still be able to claim the Landmark Building pack bonus when the console build officially releases.
