Serving as an origin story set 14 years before the original game, Gears of War: E-Day chronicles the initial onslaught of the Locust Horde on planet Sera. The campaign follows young Coalition of Ordered Governments soldiers Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago alongside Bravo Squad squadmates Mags Carter and Lucas Reyes as they attempt to survive the arrival of the enemy forces in the city of Kalona.
Alongside its campaign, the title introduces expanded multiplayer experiences such as Horde Siege. This 12-player mode splits players into three distinct squads to protect reconnaissance devices, fulfill dynamic secondary objectives, defeat massive boss invasions, and coordinate exfiltrations. Players select from specialized classes, including Assault, Marksman, Breacher, and Medic, each equipped with dedicated tactical gear and upgrade pathways.
